Affectionately known as the People’s Palace, San Francisco City Hall is the seat of government for the City and County of San Francisco and a destination historic landmark. Designed by Arthur Brown, Jr., this Beaux-Arts building originally opened in 1915 as a monument to the City Beautiful movement.

The Brazilian Room derives its name from its rich hardwood paneling (Jacaranda, Imbuya, Brazilian Chestnut and Mahogany) that was once part of the Brazilian Pavilion at the 1939 Golden Gate International Exhibition on Treasure Island in the San Francisco Bay that showcased the commerce and culture of the country of Brazil.
